a dash of normal | pinch of crazy | a dose of reality

Be Still My Heart. Life = Made.

Be Still My Heart. Life = Made.

You know, it’s so easy to get caught up in life. I’m not gonna lie … I like nice things. A lot. And at times I tend to get preoccupied with my next “want.” I’m a girl, we’re good at that … I think it’s part of the “keeping up with the Jones'” mentality. Although, with all the reality tv going on these days (of which I am TOTES addicted to) … it’s more like “Keeping up with the Kardashians” … bah-dum-duh. Like what I did there?

But the older I get, and the more life unfolds devastation around me, I realize that … at the end of the day, all that really matters is a happy soul. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m ALWAYS going to like “sparkly” things, but I think it’s really important that every once in a while we do a quick reality check and thank God for what we have. Be still. Be content. And enjoy the journey. As my granny (and Mary Kay) always says: Happiness is a state of mind, not a destination.

It just seems like the majority of time we just really go and complicate things … I know I do for sure. Life certainly doesn’t make it any easier either; it seems like it’s a never ending cycle of waking up, rushing to school, scarfing down food, running to sports, doing homework, baths, bed, then starting over. But when you stop and really think about it, we have so much to be thankful for. We have more than most people; we have beds, we have food, we have at least ONE person in our life that loves us, and we’re all still here … and alive. We’re never promised another day, so even though life is constantly a rush … I need to remember to be thankful for the MOST important things in my life – health, my family, laughter, and amazing memories that we’re making daily.

At the end of the day, the only questions that are really important are:

Did I LOVE enough?
Did I LAUGH enough?
Did I MAKE a difference?

My favorite saying is … do something nice for someone who can never return the favor. It’s the little things in life that will make the most impact … not only on the person receiving, but on YOU as well!

And with that, I’ll leave you with my eye-opening moment today. Be still my heart. I have so much to be thankful for.

And there there’s this:

DISCLAIMER: I know Hendrix makes the blog more than Hudson does … but keep in mind, I’m home with this little nugget pretty much 24-7. And Hudson prefers to be doing his “thang” over partaking in our media non-sense!
